LAP-BAND Success Story: Amy Beats Her Goal Weight!

Amy, with one of her dogs, before her LAP-BAND SurgeryAmy had her LAP-BAND Surgery at Weight Loss Surgical Center in April of 2008, back when she weighed more than 300 lbs. We got her on the road to successful weight loss, when she and her husband moved out of the area.

Before they left the Midwest, she was already down 100+ lbs and was able to surprise her husband with her new look when he returned from military duty overseas. He Amy, fitting into one pant leg of her old jeans.knew she had surgery. He knew she had lost weight, but he had no idea how much weight she had lost or how good she would look. In fact, he passed by her several times when he was looking for her before she reintroduced herself to him.

Since moving to the west coast, Amy has continued her success, and she recently wrote in to her old Weight Loss Surgical Center fill practitioner with a nice note and pictures:

Hey Mitch!

I wanted to send you some after pics.  I am about 2 pounds under my goal (which means I lost just over 160 pounds in less than a year and a half). Anyway, I am attaching some pictures, before and after so that you guys can see the transformation.  I can't thank everyone there enough for changing my entire life.

Amy, after losing 160 lbs with LAP-BAND Surgery. She also noted that she had some minor port complications that she was able to get fixed at the same time as a surgery to remove loose skin after her quick weight loss.

Now she's looking great and loving it. She even admitted that there was a time in her life where she might not have shared pictures of herself, but not now:

Please, forward my email to whoever you would like to.  There used to be a time when I wouldn't want anyone to see my pictures and that I would avoid cameras.  Now that I've lost the weight, I don't hide from cameras and am happy to show my pictures to people.

Amy, getting more of life after losing 160 lbsCongratulations on your success Amy, and we hope you continue to get more of life.

Good luck on your journey, mine has been amazing! There are 5 tips that I will share that helped me consistently lose and keep me focused and positive.

#1 Listen to your doctor! Getting advice from others is great, but your doctor is really the one that you need to go to and never be afraid to talk to him/her if you are struggling. This is what they are there for, to help you.

#2 EXERCISE! Exercise is a must. Find the time to make it happen!

#3 Eat healthier. Your band is not a miracle cure, you have to work with it for it to work for you. One thing I did is clear my entire house out of all of the "bad" foods, it is a huge help to healthy eating habits to not have the bad stuff around you. I have heard a lot of people say that they need to have the other foods around for kids, spouse, etc. What is wrong with your family eating healthier as well?

#4 Be positive and don't compare. When talking about your weight loss, don't say "I only lost xx pounds", say proudly, I have lost xx pounds! Also, don't compare yourself with everyone else and think that you are not doing as well as someone else. Every person will lose at a different rate, in a different place, and different amounts.

#5 Don't dwell on the "slip-ups". If you have a bad day, eat something you think you shouldn't have, don't keep dwelling on it. Think about what you did, what your goals are, then LET IT GO! Stressing out about it isn't going to help you and having more stress may cause it to happen again and again and again.

I hope these tips help you and if you have anymore questions for me I'd be happy to answer them and good luck again!

Congratulations for your new look and good luck with your continuous journey, as you will have to keep up with the good work and create a new lifestyle after lap band surgery. Actually, after any bariatric procedure a change of lifestyle is needed.

Lapband is a type of surgery in which you lose weight gradually, in a more natural way. It is great that Amy succeeded to lose so much, her determination is to be admired. Congratulations,Amy!

goose is damaging crops. They will remain a protected species until their numbers return to sustainable levels. The Brant Goose resembles the smaller, shorter-necked forms of the Canada Goose but it is much darker and without white cheeks. It breeds farther north than any other known goose. The eggs and downy young are preyed Canada Goose upon by crows, gulls, mink and a variety of other small animals including bullfrogs, pike and carp. But it is man who preys upon the adult goose.LLP
